Matt Wright aka wrNg works as a turntablist and composer at the edges of concert and club culture, using vinyl, brass, wood, paper, bytes strings and skin as materials. He takes splinters of musical history and fuses them with his own chemistry to produce hybrid results, both acoustic and electronic. As a composer he has worked with The Apollo Saxophone Quartet, The Duke Quartet, Joanna Macgregor, London Flutes and Vamos! (UK),The Maarten Altena ensemble, SOIL and De Ereprijs (Netherlands) and ELISION (Australia). As a DJ he regularly tours Europe with the breakbeat / free improv trio MTK and performs solo as wrNg, playing his own breed of 'turnfablism'. He is supported by a PRSFoundation Scholarship and it's thanks to The Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, SPNM and Vamos! that his music gets to breathe.
