Electric Wizard LIVE / Xela LIVE / The Freezing Fog LIVE

Exploring the murky world of doom metal and occult electronics, Futuresonic has invited Electric Wizard to perform alongside Walsall's wizard of electronica, John Twells aka Xela. Electric Wizard have a cult following under the spell of their doom laced and sludgy psychedelic rock music. Xela is the sonically shapeshifting producer and owner of Type records, home to music from Peter Broderick to Sylvain Chaveau. Expect a drone-based mismash of psychedelia summoned from his array of vintage analog synthesizers. Both live acts are noted for an interest in the occult, and in particular horror soundtracks catering for lovers of Goblin, American stoner rockers Sleep or the 'other' side. 

Electric Wizard

Formed in 1993, West Country doom metal outfit Electric Wizard recorded a series of six critically acclaimed albums considered landmarks of the genre. The group has since accrued a cult fanbase and a worldwide following with an infamous reputation to match. Their sound is a sludgy mass of traditional doom metal guitars with lyrics referencing interests in the work of H.P Lovecraft and witchcraft, with recent album ‘Witchcult Today' held as one of their best works to date.

Xela

With twin passions in the work of Dario Argento and the accompanying soundtracks from Goblin, coupled with an expansive knowledge of avant-garde musics, his tendency for the dark side has lead to a current live show incorporating occult folk music with drone based electronics, drawing parallels in the work of Prurient, KTL or Ben Chasny. John also owns and operates the highly respected Type records imprint.
