Beverly Geesin
Sociology, University of York
Beverly Geesin is researching resistance to workplace surveillance for her PhD in Sociology at the University of York. This work includes, so far, a case study of taxicab drivers in Philadelphia, USA who have opposed the installation of GPS in their cabs and a survey of how new media artists have addressed surveillance and what possibilities for resistance this work proposes. She received a Masters degree in Interactive Media from Goldsmiths College. Her research interests are surveillance, social theory, new media art, and computer-mediated communication.
